A British bred variety, Courgette Defender is resistant to Cucumber Mosaic Virus which so often decimates marrow plants in our gardens. It produces heavy crops of mid-green, slightly speckled courgettes, and is best if cut regularly.
Sow in a propagator on a windowsill or one seed per 75mm pot in a green house at approx 20-25 celsius using a good quality compost. Germination takes 5-8 days. Cover seeds with 19mm compost. Grown on, planting out when frost risk has passed with 60cm between the plants each way. The seeds can also be sown directly outside with two seeds per station, thinning to the strongest seedling. Gorws best in rich, moisture, retenetive soil in a sunny position, Water feed regularly.
