Safari produces straight, very slender round dark green stringless pods about 11-12cm (4½-5″) in length. Require only a brief cooking time and are best steamed and served whole. RHS Award of Garden Merit winner.
Sow in pots or trays on a windowsill or in a greenhouse using a good qulity compost. Cover seeds with 25mm compost. Germination occurs in 7-14 days. Grow on, planting outside or protecting with cloches until frost risk has passed, 20cm between plants, alternatively sow direct into prepared, warm, moist soil at a depth of 38mm, thing as necessary to 20cm between plants. Allow 60cm between rows. Grows best in rich soil in a sunny position, pods held well above soil. Produces slim beans over a long period if picked daily and kept well watered during dry weather.
